ChatGPT Pro gets a $500 tier with Ultrafast mode

The new top plan runs Astra at up to 300 tokens per second. The $200 plan's usage allowance shrinks.

OpenAI added a $500 per month ChatGPT Pro tier. Its main feature is Ultrafast, a mode that serves GPT-6 Astra at up to 300 tokens per second, which OpenAI says is up to eight times faster in Codex and ChatGPT Work.

Ultrafast is also available in the API at six times the usual price. At the same time, the $200 Pro plan's usage allowance was reduced, according to Engadget.

All Pro tiers, from $100 upwards, include Dots. The $500 tier makes sense mainly for people who run heavy, time-sensitive agent work all day.

What it means for you

Most people do not need Ultrafast. Start on the $100 plan and upgrade only if your Dot regularly runs out of usage.
